Since the launch of Cycle Monkey in 2005, hand-built wheels have been central to the business. While Cycle Monkey has grown to include component import/distribution, complete bike builds, product design, and suspension services, wheels are still a focal point of our business. Neil brings his engineering background to the wheel building process to design wheels that meet an individual customer's needs whether they be strength/durability, lightweight, aerodynamic, large tire management, rider comfort, or stiffness.
We build all shapes and sizes of wheels to handle any type of use and to fit within a given rider's budget. We use parts from whichever manufacturer offers the hub/rim/spokes most appropriate for a given wheel build. From 16-36" rims and road, mountain, fixed gear, folding, recumbent, commuting, cargo, touring, or electric bike use, every wheel is built to order and meets the same exacting standards. We offer many lacing patterns including standard 3-cross, 2-cross, and radial, as well as the more unique twisted spoke, inter-laced spoke, and crow's foot.
Cycle Monkey uses the best rims, spokes, and hubs to build custom wheels for each rider's specific needs. We have extensive experience working with products from ENVE (formerly Edge) Composites, Mavic, Velocity, NoTubes, HED, Reynolds, DT Swiss, ZIPP, Sapim, White Industries, Chris King, Phil Wood, Alchemy, Industry Nine, Hope, Project, 321, Tune, Cannondale, Shimano, Campagnolo, and other reputable brands.
